  • Description
  • Begonia amphioxus is native to Sabah, Borneo and was found out by Martin Sands in 1990. It is an exotic begonia with a shrub-like growth habit. The leaves are lance shaped and pointed at both ends. The large maroon spots on the narrow green leaves give it an “other worldly” appearance. The flowers are green in unusual shape. This species needs extra humidity and usually grown in a terrarium.

    Secret of success:
     - Prefers bright indirect sunlight. Avoid strong direct sunlight.
    - Enjoys damp and well-draining soil.
    - Allow soil to slightly dry out in between waterings.
    - The plant requires extra humidity in order to thrive.
    - Fertilise lightly during the growing season.

    Pot diameter: 6cm
Plant height: 18cm (incl. pot height)

  • Plant Care Tips
  • Potting soil should be kept moist, but not wet. Of course, there are always exceptions — succulents, and other thick-leafed plants do best when the soil dries out between watering. If the soil is kept too dry or too damp the plant’s roots will begin to die, which can lead to inadequate growth or even death of the plant.

Here are the 5 ways to check whether your plants is dehydrated and need water.
