Muscari Early Bird

Muscari or common grape hyacinth is related to common hyacinth but is from different genus. Common hyacinth has star-shaped and open fully blooms, while muscari has tight blooms in a raceme that resemble clusters of grapes. They are happy to grow in sun to almost full shade.

Pot diameter: 9cm

Plant height: 20cm (Included pot height)

Secret of success:
: A cool spot in bright indirect sunlight in the home encourages the best, longer lasting blooms. Rotate the plants as it will lean toward sunlight.
🌱: Prefer moist but well-drained soil.
🚿: Allow soil to slightly dry in between waterings.

👩🏻🌾: The bulbs contain plenty of stored nutrients for the leaves and flowers which makes fertilizer unnecessary.

: As soon as the flowers fade, cut them back with scissors, leaving the stems to nourish the bulb. Apply a layer of compost in the fall and if they sprout leaves in the fall.

Fresh-Cut Flower Care Tips

Here are some simple tips to help keep fresh cut flowers fresh:

  • Keep them away from sunlight or any heat source.
  • Give the stems a diagonal trim and place them in clean, cool water.
  • Change the water every 2-3 days.
  • Make sure you remove any leaves that are beneath the water line.

See flower prep & care section for more information.

Dried/Preserved Flower Care Tips

  • Always display dried flowers indoors, to keep them protected from the elements.
  • Keep your dried flowers away from direct sunlight, areas of bright light and away from humidity.
  • Sprinkling water or perfume can cause damage
  • Avoid crushing, pressing or folding flower.
  • If the preserved flower is stained by the dust, you can clean the preserved flower with the blower blowing softly 20cm away from the flower.
  • Temperature changes should be avoided to prevent humidity which could affect your blossoms.

Plant Care Tips

Most plants thrive in high humidity — around 80%.

Using a humidifier can help, but there are other ways to increase the moisture in the air near your plants. A small tray containing pebbles and water can boost local humidity as can grouping plants more closely together. Daily misting of the plant’s leaves can help as well. For some plants, such as gardenias and orchids, keeping them in a bathroom or the kitchen (both usually have a higher humidity) can help.
