The plant features flat, broad, segmented stems that grow long and arch gracefully, adding a dramatic touch to any space. Its large, showy flowers bloom in shades of deep purple or magenta, with a waxy texture, and typically open at night, lasting for several days making them a striking focal point in both gardens and homes. Often cultivated as a decorative indoor plant or in hanging baskets, Epiphyllum purple can also be grown outdoors, where its trailing stems can climb or cascade over structures like trellises and fences.

  • Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate some direct sunlight, too much can cause the plant to become stressed and lead to sunburn.

  • Soil

Prefers well-draining, loose soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix.

  • Water Requirement

: It requires regular watering, but the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering which can lead to root rot.

  • Temperature

Ideal growing temperatures are between 16℃ to 29℃.

  • Humidity

It benefits from higher humidity levels. Regular misting can help maintain the right moisture levels.

  • Fertilizer

Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks to encourage healthy growth and vibrant blooms.

  • Caution

Pruning is not strictly necessary, but occasional trimming can help maintain a tidy shape and remove any dead or damaged stems. Pruning after blooming is ideal to avoid disrupting flowering.
