Delphinium, commonly known as Larkspur, is a genus of about 300 species in the family Ranunculaceae, native to Northern Hemisphere, with a few species found in Africa. Delphiniums are widely known for their showy spikes, strong stems and beautiful blue flowers.
Meaning: The genus name comes from the Greek word for dolphin – “delphis”, because of the flower shape.
Symbolism: It symbolizes lightness, fun, levity and joy.
