Dionaea muscipula as known as Venus Flytrap, (scientific name: Dionaea muscipula) is acarnivorous and semi-cold tolerant perennial plant in the family Droseraceae native to North America. It has jagged bivalve-like leaves at the end of its long petiole, and when insects touch it, it closes the leaves quickly and preys on them.
