Sedum morganianum, commonly known as Burro's Tail or Donkey's Tail, is a popular succulent plant known for its trailing, cascading stems covered in fleshy, blue-green leaves. It has long, trailing stems that can grow up to 2-4 feet in length. The stems are densely packed with small, fleshy, tear-shaped leaves that are light blue-green or grayish in color. The leaves are delicate and can easily fall off if disturbed.

Although the flowers are small and not the primary attraction, Sedum morganianum occasionally produces star-shaped pink or red flowers at the tips of the stems. The plant has a trailing, vine-like growth habit, making it perfect for hanging baskets or as a draping plant over the edge of pots or shelves.

  • Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light or filtered sunlight. Place the plant near a sunny window where it receives plenty of light but avoid exposing it to harsh, direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burn. It can tolerate some partial shade but will grow slower and may become leggy if the light is too low.

  • Soil

Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix to prevent water from sitting around the roots.

  • Water Requirement

As a succulent, it stores water in its fleshy leaves and prefers infrequent, deep watering. Water the plant thoroughly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

  • Temperature

Ideal growing temperatures are between 16℃ to 24℃. Do not do well in extreme heat and should be protected from temperatures above 27°C.

  • Humidity

It does well in high humidity.

  • Fertilizer

Fertilise lightly during the growing season. Too much fertilizer can cause leggy growth and weaken the plant.

  • Caution

The leaves are delicate and can fall off easily if the plant is moved or disturbed. Try to handle the plant minimally and avoid touching the trailing stems too much.
