Podocarpus macrophyllus is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree (can up to 20m). The leaves are strap-shaped with a central midrib. Foliage is pleasantly fragrant when bruised. Chinese culture believes that the podocarpus plant can bring continually fortune to the generations (家有罗汉松，世代不受穷).
