Crassula ovata, commonly known as Jade Plant or Money Plant, is a popular succulent houseplant known for its thick, fleshy leaves and tree-like growth habit. Native to South Africa, this plant is prized for its resilience and is often associated with good luck and prosperity.
The leaves are thick, fleshy, and oval-shaped, with a shiny, jade-green color. Some varieties develop a red or pink tinge along the edges when exposed to bright sunlight. The plant has thick, woody stems that give it a tree-like appearance as it matures. Younger stems are green, but they become brown and woody as the plant ages.

Plant Care Guide for Crassula Ovata (Jade Plant) – P80 《玉树》
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some direct sunlight, which helps maintain their compact shape and can bring out reddish edges on the leaves. However, too much direct sunlight can cause leaf burn.
Soil
Requires well-draining soil to prevent water from sitting around the roots.
Water Requirement
As a succulent, Crassula ovata stores water in its leaves and prefers dry conditions. Water thoroughly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Temperature
Ideal growing temperatures are between 16℃ to 28℃. Keep it away from cold drafts or heating vents that might cause stress.
Humidity
Does well in typical indoor humidity levels and are not particular about humidity. Avoid placing them in overly humid environments, as this can encourage fungal issues.
Fertilizer
Fertilise lightly during the growing season.
Caution
Jade plants can be pruned to maintain their shape and encourage bushier growth. Trim back leggy stems or branches that grow too tall. Pruning can also help prevent the plant from becoming top-heavy. Overwatering is the primary cause of problems with jade plants.
