Collection: Bouvardia
Bouvardia is a genus of about 50 species of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae, native to Mexico and tropical America. These species are evergreen herbs or shrubs, with large, deep-green leaves and single or double trumpet-shaped or star-shaped flowers, carried on tall, sometimes woody stems. They attract birds and butterflies to the garden and make wonderful additions to a number of different kinds of bouquets and arrangements.
Meaning: The genus was named after Charles Bouvard (1572–1658), who was the personal physician to Louis XIII, King of France.
Symbolism: Bouvardia symbolizes enthusiasm.
