Zelkova is often used as ornamental trees in landscaping and bonsai. It grows to 15-24m tall in landscape setting but can reach up to 30m in natural habitat. As a bonsai, it is kept much smaller. The leaves are simple, ovate, and serrated, typically 3-10cm long.

• Carmona Microphylla (Fukien Tea Tree) •

福建茶

 

Carmona microphylla is also known as Fukien tea tree. It typically grows to about 60-90cm tall when cultivated as a bonsai. The leaves are small, glossy, dark green and slightly hairy with a leathery texture. The Fukien tea tree produces small, white, star-shaped fragrant flowers throughout the year.  After flowering, it may produce small, spherical berries that start green and turn red or black as they mature.

• Sageretia Theezans (Sweet Plum) •

雀梅藤属

 

Sageretia theezans is commonly knowns as the Chinese sweet plum or sweet plum tree. It is typically kept between 20-60cm tall. In its natural habitat, it can grow up to 3-6m tall. The leaves are small, ovate, and glossy green with a smooth texture and slightly serrated edges. It produces small, inconspicuous white or greenish flowers, often appearing in clusters. After flowering, it may produce small, edible berries that turn dark purple or black when ripe.

Fresh-Cut Flower Care Tips

Here are some simple tips to help keep fresh cut flowers fresh:

  • Keep them away from sunlight or any heat source.
  • Give the stems a diagonal trim and place them in clean, cool water. 
  • Change the water every 2-3 days.
  • Make sure you remove any leaves that are beneath the water line.

Dried/Preserved Flower Care Tips

  • IMPORTANT: Dried flowers DO NOT NEED WATER.
  • Always display dried flowers indoors, to keep them protected from the elements.
  • Keep your dried flowers away from direct sunlight, areas of bright light and away from humidity.
  • Sprinkling water or perfume can cause damage
  • Avoid crushing, pressing or folding flower.
  • If the preserved flower is stained by the dust, you can clean the preserved flower with the blower blowing softly 20cm away from the flower.
  • Temperature changes should be avoided to prevent humidity which could affect your blossoms.
